Dani's story
Dani's story at Wilton Heat Transfer
Meet Dani (25), a mechanic at Wilton Heat Transfer. What started as a spontaneous internship through the STC (Shipping and Transport College) grew into a career full of technology and international assignments. Dani has now been a permanent member of the team for over five years and travels all over the Netherlands and beyond for his work.
“I was actually supposed to do my internship somewhere else, but that company never responded,” Dani explains. “My mentor then arranged an interview at Wilton. After just a month of internship, I was already offered a contract. That immediately felt right.”
What appeals to Dani most about his work? The variety. No day is the same. “I work locally, but also in Alkmaar, Drenthe, England, Germany, and offshore. You’re never in the same place for long. Sometimes I start early in the morning, sometimes I’m on the road to a job far away. That dynamic suits me.”
Although he often works with regular colleagues, Dani also enjoys mentoring young interns. “It’s great to teach them the trade and see them grow. That’s how we keep the knowledge alive within the company.”
There are challenges too, especially the unexpected. “You arrive on site and it turns out to be different than expected. Then you have to switch quickly and find a solution that works for the client. Sometimes it’s a puzzle, but it’s also the best part. Customer satisfaction always comes first, I always say.”
Why should someone come to work at Wilton? Dani is clear: “You get opportunities here. I started as an intern and am now an experienced mechanic traveling across Europe. You work with great colleagues, learn something new every day, and have a lot of freedom. If you love technology and aren’t afraid of a little adventure, this is the place for you.”
